SNORKELING

Snorkeling

If you want to discover an underwater world, but don’t have the time, money or inclination to learn to scuba dive, there’s an easy alternative: snorkelling. This fun, simple sport is said to date back 5000 years to the sea sponge gatherers of Crete, and it’s a brilliant way to  explore warm, shallow seas and get a closer look at the corals and tropical fish that inhabit them. Just strap on a diving mask and plunge into the waters off the Philippines, Hawaii or even the Great Barrier Reef, breathing in through your snorkel tube as a rainbow-coloured ecosystem flits into life before your eyes beneath the surface of the waves.
