About Trip:
Upper Dolpo Trekking is full of adventurous trekking along the thrill of remote routes in the Himalayan region of Tibetan plateau. The Upper Dolpo regions are the land beyond the Himalayas, full of majestic Tibetan architecture, monasteries, heavy mountains, floras, fauna, diverse landscapes and a panoramic glimpse of Tibetan Region. These Dolpo regions are home to some of the endangered species like snow leopard, blue sheep, e.t.c. Similarly, the rain-snow areas in Upper Dolpo are some of the remotest areas of Nepal. These trekking routes cover the remotest areas of Nepal along the pathway of Tibetan regions. Upper Dolpo trekking routes cover some of the mysterious beauty of this nation that is not spoilt my modernization. Upper Dolpo Trekking routes come under the restricted routes, so you will require special permission to enter this natural heaven. The Oscar award-winning movie "Caravan" was shot in these majestic regions. Due to its high altitude and landscapes, travelers interested in adventurous trek find these areas fascinating and mysterious. As solo trekking is not allowed for this trekking route, you should be in a group of at least two-person to get the permission for Upper-Dolpo. You will be exploring some of the majestic views along the route such as gigantic mountains, prolific landscapes, lakes, rivers, monasteries, isolated villages, floras, faunas, and colorful Rhododendron forests.
Dolpo is the largest district of Nepal. Still is also one of the least populated and least developed areas of Nepal. This is due to its high altitude, landscapes, and poor transportation network. However then, the recent envision of tourism in the area have uplifted its economy. Centuries-old Buddhist Monasteries such as Shey Gompa and other Tibetan monuments are the major pilgrimages of Upper-Dolpo. Thus, you will be discovering some of the mysterious Himalayan landscapes of western Nepal. Thus, this trekking route is full of mysterious monuments, monasteries, Tibetan influences, gigantic mountains, astonishing floras, faunas, and great snowfalls. Along the track, you will be crossing some of the highest trekking route zones such as Kanga La and Jyasal Pass. The astonishing view of Mt. Kanjirowa and the crystal mountain are some of the major discovering points of this trekking route. We have designed a flexible itinerary for this Upper Dolpo Trekking.

What to expect ?
You Can See the Beautiful view of Himalayan, Musk Deer, Snow Leopard, Blue Sheep, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain range, Mt. Saipal, Mt. Api, 800 years old Shey Gompa, Shey Phoksundo National Park, Shey Phoksundo Lake, Indigenous culture of the Mountain people, Ringmo Village etc. You will get a great chance to know about the Tibetan influences among the local peoples and their lifestyles.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival to Kathmandu
We will receive you at the TIA, Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel via private vehicle. You will be staying overnight at the Hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing
After having breakfast in the morning session, you will be guided towards the heritage areas of Kathmandu. You will be exploring the holy temple of Lord Pashupatinath, Buddhist Monastery of Bouddhanath and Swayambhunath. There are other options for sightseeing within the valley based on your requirements. Thus, you will be staying overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Kathmandu-Nepalgunj Domestic Flight
This day, you will be heading towards Nepalgunj on a domestic flight from Kathmandu. Nepalgunj is a beautiful city full of plain land, heritage, and culture. It’s a typically hot place, which is closer to the Indian border. Thus, you will be staying overnight at Nepalgunj for next day’s destination towards Dolpo.

Day 4: Nepalgunj to Juphal Flight
From Nepalgunj, you will be heading towards Juphal on a mountain flight. In Juphal, you will be guided towards the hotel. Juphal is a glorious village full of gorgeous snowfalls and mountains. In Juphal, we will guide you all about the trekking routes and all other safety measures. Thus, you will be staying overnight at Juphal for next day’s trek to Chhapka.

Day 5: Trek from Juphal to Chhapka
With breakfast in the morning session, you will be guided towards, Chhapka, which is a small agricultural village. Along the way, you will see various natural scenarios and majestic mountains. You will be passing through the trains of Shey Phoksundo National Park, which is full of glorious floras, faunas, heritages, and Tibetan monasteries. Along the way, you will see great forest ranges full of Pines, Bamboos, Rhododendron, e.t.c. Thus, your final destination would be Chhapka. Thus, you will be staying overnight at Chhupka village, which is at a higher altitude.
Day 6: Chhapka to Palam Trekking
With the breakfast at the trekking camp in Chhapka, you will be heading towards the ascending and descending routes of Palam. Along the route, you will see the majestic combination of rivers, forests, floras, and great Tibetan architectures. You will be reaching Palam after the ultimate trekking destination of up to around 7 hours. Thus, you will be staying overnight at the high altitude of Palam village on a tent camp with dinner.

Day 7: Palam to Lake Phoksundo (Deepest Lake) Trekking
This day is full of excitements, enthusiasm, sightseeing, trekking and discovery of Tibetan influences in these high Himalayan areas. So, after having breakfast you will be guided towards the trekking routes. It will take around 5 hours of ups and downs along the high Himalayan routes to reach Lake Phoksundo. The locals here speak Tibetan language but they also understand Nepali, as they have huge Tibetan influences on their lifestyle. Along the way, you will discover many ancient Tibetan monasteries, gompas with centuries-old history. Thus, you will be staying overnight at the high altitude areas of Phoksundo with dinner.

Day 8: Lake Phoksundo Discovery along with sightseeing of nearby natural Scenes.
You will be exploring and feeling the nature’s magic in this area, which is full of gigantic mountains, green forests and the ultimate view of Lake Phoksundo. Lake Phoksundo is the deepest lake of Nepal, a true gift of Mother Nature. You will be able to meet with locals and get to know about their lifestyles, traditional skills, and way of living. Thus, it’s a great platform for cultural exchange. Hence, you will be staying overnight at a tent camp in a nearby area.

Day 9: Trekking to Salla Ghari
This day is full of trekking in the upper Himalayan regions, along with the gorgeous view of Snowfall Mountains, forests, and adventurous trails. So, with breakfast in the morning session, you will be heading towards the trekking route of restricted areas. You need special permission before entering these restricted areas. We are always there for you to get the permission of these restricted areas. Along the way in the restricted areas, you will see a great alpine forest of pine, rhododendron, etc. Similarly, the ultimate view of Kanjirowa Himalayan ranges will give great magical memories for days to come. Thus, you will be staying overnight at the trekking spot with tents.

Day 10: Trek to Lar Tsa
It's at a very high altitude, as you will continue your destination towards Lar Tsa, through the rocks and snow hills. This day trekking is full of high altitude trekking towards the rocky walls and Himalayan tracks. So, after reaching the high altitude zone of Lar Tsa you will be staying overnight there for a historic trek to Shey Gompa next day.

Day 11: Shey Gompa Trekking
Our trekking starts with breakfast in the morning session; then you will be guided towards the rocky and dusty track of Ngadra La. So, from Ngadra La, with ups and downs of Snowy tracks, you will be reaching Shey Gompa. This gompa is a very important Buddhist pilgrim here, with a root from ancient Tibetan dynasty.
Thus, you will be staying overnight in these areas.

Day 12: Shey Gompa Exploration
This day will give you the chance to experience and discover the Tibetan culture. So, with breakfast in the morning session, you will be exploring the holy Shey Gompa. Every year many devotees come to worship here for many reasons. Along with Shey Gompa, there are many such ancient Buddhist Monastries which has a great touch with the ancient Tibetan dynasty. Similarly, Crystal Mountain, a very unique and the highlight of Upper-Dolpo trekking is another point of attraction in these areas. Thus, you will be staying overnight at a tented camp for the next day’s trek to Namgung.

Day 13: Trekking towards Namgung
So, with the thrilling experience of overnight, you will continue the trekking route and heading towards Namgung. On your way towards Namgung, you will be passing the high altitude passes of Geln La. Here, you will see the majestic view of the gigantic Himalayas of Tibetan plateau. Thus, after reaching Namgung you will be discovering some traditional lifestyles of locals, before an overnight stay.

Day 14: Trek to Saldang
Trekking to Saldang is full of ups and downs of rocky walls. So, crossing all these Himalayan hurdles you will reach the beautiful valley of Saldang. The village is the biggest village in the lower altitude region of Dolpo. Saldang village is the trading route, towards the Tibetan region. Thus, you will be staying overnight at Saldang.

Day 15: Trek to Sibu
After having breakfast, you will be heading towards Sibu through some majestic landscapes, floras, faunas, monasteries and landmark sites. It will take you around 7 hours of walking to reach Sibu from the beautiful village of Saldang.

Day 16: Trek from Sibu to Jeng-la Phedi
From Sibu, the trekking route is quite moderate, but after crossing the backyard valley, there are some elevated trekking routes towards your way to Jeng-la Phedi. Thus, you will be staying overnight at the tented camp.

Day 17: Trek Jeng-la to Tarap Chu via Jeng la Phedi
So, from Jeng la, you will be continuing your trekking route towards Tokyu Gaon. Along with the ups and downs, you will be exploring the gigantic Himalayan ranges and beautiful trails of the landscape. Thus, you will be reaching Tarap Chu village following the path of Tarap Chu river. Tarap Chu village is an ancient village full of gompas, monuments, and local lifestyles. Hence, you will be staying overnight before next day’s trekking towards Dho Tarap.

Day 18: Trek from Tarap Chu to Dho Tarap
You will be reaching Dho Tarap from Tokyu Gaun, following the eastern rough routes through the irregular stone walls. While heading towards Dho Tarap you will see a great glimpse of ancient Buddhist Monastries and local Buddhist followers. Thus, you will be staying overnight at Dho Tarap in a tented trekking camp.

Day 19: Trek to Khani Gaon
Now, with the breakfast in the morning session, you will be heading towards the beautiful village of Khanigaon. This destination is quite long trekking route where your route follows the route of Tarap Khola in descending rocky trails. Along the route, you will explore narrower George with electrifying river flow. You will pass through higher landscapes, livestock such as goats, yaks, sheep, e.t.c and traditional human habitats. Finally, after crossing the suspension bridge, you will head towards Khani Gaon. Hence, you will be staying overnight at KhaniGaon for the next destination in Tarakot.

Day 20: Trek from Khanikhola to Tarakot
With breakfast in the morning session, you will be kicking off towards the destination in Tarakot. You will go through the zig-zag rocky trains before reaching the fertile valley of Barbung Chu. Here you will find agriculture of millet, barley, sweet corn, buckwheat, chilies, green beans, and weeds. Tarakot is an ancient town which has a great history, as it was known as Dzong by locals, which means fort. Sandul gompa is one of the major highlights of this area which lies towards the east of Tarakot at the junction of Barbung Khola and Tarap Chu. Similarly, in the lower coast area, you will see the electrifying flow of Bheri River.

Day 21: Trek to Dunai
From Tarakot you will be heading towards the downhill routes before reaching Dunai. It will take around 5-6 hours of ascending and descending experience to reach Dunai. Here you will be experiencing great river flow scenes and natural settings.

Day 22: Trekking to Juphal from Dunai
So, you are in the concluding phase of these overall trekking routes. Along the way, you will see various beautiful natural scenarios, which will be in your long term memories.

Day 23: Fly Back to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj
After the breakfast, you will be heading towards the flight to Nepalgunj from Juphal. Similarly, after reaching Nepalgunj, based on the flight schedule, you will have some lunch. Then, you will catch the flight of Kathmandu from Nepalgunj. You will reach this cultural valley in about 30 minutes experiencing the topo glimpse of gigantic mountain ranges such as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, etc.
So, on this day we will provide you with a farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant. Thus, you will be staying overnight at Kathmandu before the next day's departure.

Day 24: Departure
Hence, as we all know, every good destination has a good ending. So we will have some interactive conversation session before guiding you towards your onward destination. If you have an international flight, then we will guide you towards the TIA, Kathmandu airport 3 hours prior to your flight schedule.
