What to expect ?

Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC Trek) is one of the most popular trekking routes of Nepal. It has gained recognition all over the world and is listed on many travel websites as one of the must-visit destinations of the world. Annapurna base camp trek is an easy-to-moderate trekking circuit that will not exceed more than 10 days. It comprises of an amazing walk through diverse landscape and culture along the foothills of Mt. Annapurna situated at 8091m from sea level. Annapurna base camp trek is designed for global hikers who wish to hike to the base camp of the spectacular mountain but are restricted due to lack of time.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)

Welcome to Nepal! After you complete customs and immigration formalities, representatives of Legit Holidays will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. Take a short stroll down the street or just rest in the hotel. In the evening, the Legit Holidays will host a welcome dinner for you where you will be introduced to your guide and support staff. Enjoy typical Nepali food while observing traditional Nepali dances.


Day 2 Drive to Pokhara (823m/2,700ft) 6 hrs drive

We start the journey to Pokhara early in the morning. After negotiating the windy roads of the Nadhunga hills, we reach the plains of Dhading. We follow the mighty Trishuli River till Muglin. Have lunch at Malekhu – a destination famous for fish delicacies. After crossing the Trishuli River a little below the confluence of Trishuli and Marshyangdi rivers, the journey passes along the Marshyangdi River. We reach Pokhara at around 2 am. Our guide will escort you to your hotel. If you are not tired, enjoy boating in the Fewa Lake. In the evening, enjoy dinner at the Lakeside – a happening place for foreign tourists.


Day 3 Pokhara to Ghandruk (1940m)

Today is the day. We drive to Naya Pul, which takes around one and a half hours, after having breakfast in Pokhara. Our trekking begins from this small settlement lying on the banks of the Modi River. After stopping for permit checking at Birethanti, we walk towards Ghandruk – a beautiful village inhabited mostly by the Gurung people. The neatly arranged snow-roofed houses are the major attractions of this village. There is also a tea garden a little above the village. Enjoy Fishtail, Annapurna South and other mountains glitter in the evening sun as you relax in your hotel terrace.


Day 4 Ghandruk to Chhomrong (2170 meters) – 5-6 hrs

A walk of around an hour from Ghandruk will take you to Kimrungdanda. The walk is very pleasing as you enjoy magnificent views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Himchuli, and Gangapurna. From Kimrungdanda, the trail descends to Kimrong Khola before taking another steep ascent to Chere Danda. After a short descent, it is an easy walk to Chhomrong. It is a small settlement that lies on the lap of the Annapurna massif.


Day 5 Chhomrong to Bamboo (2310 meters) – 5-6 hrs

We start early after having breakfast at our lodge. We descend via the famous 2,500 stone steps till Chhomrong Khola. After crossing the river, it's an uphill walk till Sinuwa. From Sinuwa, we pass through a beautiful forest amidst the chirping of birds to Kuldihar. From Kuldihar, it's an easy downhill walk to Bamboo. Lunch Sinwua


Day 6 Bamboo to Deurali (3230 meters) – 4-5 hrs

Today is a tiring day. We pass through a very damp bamboo forest. Make some ascent through steep sections till Himalaya Hotel where the forest opens up. Catch the magnificent view of the glacier-fed river below. From Himalaya Hotel, continue your walk through a forest and enjoy the chirping of birds and cool breeze till Hinku Cave. From here, the trail descends to the river before climbing again to Deurali. Probably this is the most scenic stretch of the day. As the vegetation is sparse, you can catch views of the valley, the gushing river below and the rocky cliffs with small waterfalls.


Day 7 Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp – 5 hrs

The walk is a bit difficult today as you reach your destination – the Annapurna Base Camp. Walkthrough a river bed before you meet a steep trail on rocky terrains. The walk from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is a bit difficult, but you will be rewarded with some of the best mountain views once you reach the Base Camp. Form the base camp; you can enjoy magnificent views of Mt Machhapuchhre as well as Himchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna. From Base Camp, we continue our walk toward the Annapurna Base Camp. You can see the south face of Mt Annapurna towering right above you. The sanctuary, as the Annapurna Base Camp area is commonly known as a 360-degree view of mountains. From the base camp, you can catch mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Himchuli and other peaks.


Day 8 Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo – 4-5 hrs

We bid adieu to the Base Camp and return via the same route to Bamboo. The walk shouldn't be difficult as the trek is mostly downhill. Enjoy the beautiful landscape as you descend.


Day 9 Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1760m) – 5-6 hrs

From Bamboo, the trail takes a slight ascent to Kuldighar followed by a downhill walk to Chhomrong Khola. Then we climb the stone steps to reach Chhomrong. From Chhomrong, the trail descends to Jhinu Danda where you can soothe your aching body by taking a dip in a local hot spring which is just a 20-minute walk from Jhinu Danda.


Day 10 Jhinu Danda to Pothana (2006m) – 6-7 hrs

This is the best trekking day and happening in the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. You can skip this part by taking a jeep direct to Pokhara but we highly recommend you to give one full day for this part. After taking breakfast at Jhinu; we start our trek with some of descends at the beginning and more climbing to arrive at Pothana. We will have lunch in Tolka and continue our trek. The trail today is more beautiful with the views of scattered villages of Ghandruk and Modi Khola. You can see beautiful cascade farmland, Mount Annapurna South, Mount Hiunchuli, Landruk Village – inhabitant of ethnic Gurung people. Pothana lies on the top of the rhododendron forest and this is the viewpoint for the different mountains like Annapurna Himalaya Range and Manaslu in the far distance.


Day 11 Pothana to Nayapul by hike and drive back to Pokhara

Toda is the last walking day of our trip. It's an easy walk to Nayapul. You can enjoy the mesmerizing hill landscape as you leave the mountain areas behind. At Nayapul, our jeep will be waiting for you which will take you to Pokhara. You can drive to Pokhara from Nayapul itself if the road is in proper condition.


Day 12 Drive to Kathmandu

Take a bus to Pokhara early in the morning. The bus should drop you to Kathmandu at around 3 pm. Our guide will escort you to your hotel. In the evening, do some last-minute shopping for your friends and families.


Day 13 Sightseeing in Kathmandu city

Tour leaders of Peregrine Treks will take you around the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE sites of Kathmandu viz. Swyambhunath, Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. The Company will give you farewell dinner with the cultural show in typical Nepali Restaurant.


Day 14 Fly home

Last day in Nepal! Our representative will drop you at the airport approximately three hours before your flight

ht. Hope you will have a lot of good memories from Nepal to take to your country.

Accommodation

Annapurna Base Camp Trek offers a wide range of accommodations. Trekkers can choose among the tea houses available at every 4-5 hours walk or can choose to camp at any place they feel safe and connected with nature. The teahouses provide breakfast and dinner which includes typical Nepalese staple food and bread. However, tourists can always choose what they would like to eat from the menu provided by the tea houses that cover a wide range of food varies from continental to country-specific food items. The price is uniform and is set by the hotel association that fixes the price for every food menu available at the teahouses.

Safety tips

Annapurna base camp trek is a moderate trek that does not demand any rigorous mountaineering experience. The base camp is situated at 4130m above sea level. To help the trekkers acclimatize, there are various short hikes, which help to explore the nearby location without having to climb ahead instead. Tourists traveling with their children also feel safe and feel at home far away from home.
